First public betas of iOS 13, iPadOS and macOS Catalina are now out

Today Apple has released the first public beta builds for iOS 13[1], iPadOS[2], and macOS Catalina[3]. All three new iterations of its operating systems were announced at the company's annual developer conference earlier this month. In the meantime we've seen a few developer previews, but now Apple has decided the upcoming releases are good enough to undergo testing out in the open by anyone who has the guts to sign up for its beta program.

To sign up, go to this website[4]. You'll then keep receiving follow-up beta builds all the way to the release of the finalized versions of the operating systems, which should become available this fall.

The iOS 13 beta was supposed to come out in July, but supposedly Apple found it stable enough to roll out a week earlier. Regardless, as these are the first public betas, expect them to lack a lot of polish and bring a bunch of bugs and performance issues, not to mention poor battery life and possibly some app compatibility problems too. So it goes without saying that it's not a good idea to install such builds on your main device(s).
