Google app beta now lets you search on behalf of your lazy friends

We live in a time where Google and the internet is easily accessible to loads of people around the world via their smartphones. Information is available at our fingertips within seconds, but that doesn’t stop people from asking questions that can easily be Googled.

Now, Android Police has spotted search sharing functionality in a beta version of the Google app. The functionality takes the form of a sharing button in the search box. Hitting this button delivers a shortened URL that will display your currently viewed search results when opened on desktop or mobile.

Once you’ve hit the button, the usual sharing menu pops up, allowing you to quickly share the link to other apps or copy it to your clipboard. You can check out the screenshots below for a better idea of how search sharing works.

This functionality seems similar to offbeat service LMGTFY (Let Me Google That For You). This website allows you to generate shortened URLs that can be sent to friends and family members who are too lazy to search online themselves. The big difference here is that Google has a no-frills approach, while LMGTFY takes the tongue-in-cheek, step-by-step route.

Google search sharing links are currently available for us in the beta app, so you can likely expect this feature to land in the stable app very soon. Are you seeing this feature? Let us know in the comments!
