We’ve seen some pretty handy smartphones from Huawei in 2019 thus far, such as the P30 series. But what if you’re looking for a cheaper device? Well, the firm has just announced the Huawei Nova 5 series in China, the latest entry in the upper mid-range family.
The new phone is the first device to ship with Huawei’s new 7nm Kirin 810 chipset. The new, octa-core chipset offers two 2.27Ghz Cortex-A76 cores and six 1.88Ghz Cortex-A55 cores. Meanwhile, the SoC also offers a Mali-G52 GPU for improved graphical performance. But the biggest addition is arguably the NPU, bringing dedicated AI silicon to Huawei’s mid-range chipsets for the first time.
The Huawei Nova 5 also features a quad rear camera setup with a 48MP main camera, and a 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera in a waterdrop notch. The company adds that the new phone offers a 6.39-inch full HD+ OLED screen with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It’s also previously confirmed via Weibo that the new phone has 40 watt fast charging.
This is a breaking news story — more to follow.
