Watch the coronavirus spread across the US with The Weather Channel’s app

Track Coronavirus with Weather Channel AppThe Weather Channel

If you’re looking to track the coronavirus as it inevitably spreads across the United States, there’s a new tracking tool within The Weather Channel’s Android app. The Weather Channel sources its info from local governments as well as the World Health Organization (WHO).

It’s a useful tool but also a very sobering — and terrifying — look at how fast the virus is spreading. It clearly indicates that things are getting worse, not better, and that it’s only a matter of time before pretty much every state sees cases in at least the triple digits.

Check out the screenshots I took this morning in my home state of Connecticut. You can see the new COVID-19 tracker icon in the lower right corner of the first screenshot:

While I could use the app to track the coronavirus across the US at large, it’s pretty scary to see the numbers here at home. Considering Connecticut is the third-smallest state in the nation and we already have over 600 confirmed cases and 12 deaths, it’s scary to think about how larger, more densely-populated satates are going to fare before this crisis is over.

If you already have The Weather Channel’s Android app, you can use it to track the coronavirus in your own area of the country now. If you open the app and don’t see the COVID-19 icon, you need to make sure you update to the latest version, which is 10.7.0. That update is live on the Google Play Store, so everyone should be able to get it.

Let this new tool to track the coronavirus remind you to stay home as much as possible, avoid close contact with other people, wash your hands numerous times each day, and follow all other regulations issued by your local government. Stay safe, all of you.
