T-Mobile is giving customers free Quibi — here’s what you need to know

Ahead of the official Quibi streaming service launch on April 6, T-Mobile has officially announced how it will offer free Quibi to its wireless customers. The bad news is the free offer is just for customers that pay for two or more lines at the carrier.

In its press release, T-Mobile says customers that have signed up for two or more lines, under the carrier’s Magenta or One unlimited plans, can get a free year of Quibi. It will also work with lines under the discounted First Responder, Military, and Magenta Plus 55 plans. T-Mobile small business customers with up to 12 lines can get free Quibi access as well. The carrier is offering access to the ad-based Quibi tier, which normally costs $4.99 a month. There’s also a tier with no ads for $9.99 a month.

After the year of free Quibi is over, T-Mobile customers will be given the choice of keeping the new service for free, or ditch it in favor of the already available free access to Netflix.

What is Quibi?

Quibi will offer a ton of original scripted, unscripted, and daily news shows. Each episode will only be 10 minutes in length or less. The idea is that consumers on the go with their smartphones or tablets will watch these brief episodes during a quick break in the day. The service will launch with over 50 shows, with more being added each week. You can learn more about the service in our feature story.

Get free Quibi without T-Mobile

The good news is that you can get access to three months of free Quibi without having to sign up for T-Mobile. In order to learn more about that offer, head over to our feature on how to get free Quibi.
